The arcades

The arcades were built in 1864 thanks to the initiative of then-mayor Pietro Auberti, who converted a large farmhouse owned by his family into the housing block we still know today. Below it ran the long thirteen-arched arcades that added a modern look and an almost urban feel to the historic core of the village. Architectural elegance was also combined with the practical utility of a place sheltered from the bad weather, which soon saw the flourishing of several stores still present today under the arcades, including the now historic café-restaurant Roma. Furthermore beyond the economic drive that the arcades were able to provide, they have always been an important social meeting place since the early years of their construction.
In 2002, the arcades were renovated and repainted by artist Vincenzo Piccato of Castagnole with colors that recall the nature and the landscape of our territory.
