Leja viewpoint

On one side of Piazza Carlo Giovannone, all the way till behind the lower secondary schools, a long, panoramic balcony extends in a semicircle, named 'Belvedere della Leja', where 'la leja' in the Piedmontese language means the tree-lined avenue, a promenade area that the nineteenth-century chronicles already tell us about.
In particular it was the ladies from the town, decked out in caps, long dresses and parasols who strolled under the 'leja' and its chestnut trees, where the belvedere, overlooking the southern end of the village, still offers a magnificent view stretching over the wonderful wine-growing landscape between the Langa and Monferrato.
